High-Quality Denture Treatment At Kent Smile Studio

19/07/2019

Affordable new teeth at your Maidstone and Chatham Dentist

Dentures are a popular tooth replacement option for many people who want an efficient and affordable treatment that restores the smile either partially, or in full, depending on where the tooth loss is. At your local Kent Smile dentist in Maidstone and Chatham, we offer high-quality dentures in different materials and styles to suit each patient’s individual needs.

There is a denture option for everybody, and we can guarantee that they will be as comfortable and as natural-looking as possible when you have them fitted at Kent Smile Studio.

What Our Denture Materials Are Made Of

We seek to use the highest quality materials possible when we create dentures for our patients. Materials have to be both flexible and durable, whilst enabling us to create the most realistic looking teeth and gums too.

Polymethyl Methacrylate (acrylic resin) is a common material used and it’s great for making natural looking dentures. Most dentures use acrylic resin to some degree.

Alternatively we may use a flexible resin which is used to fit around existing tooth structures. It is useful for very specific circumstances, albeit not the ideal denture system for longevity.

In some instances cobalt chromium is used which is incredibly lightweight and durable, and completely suitable for working with the body without causing any reactions. With this kind of denture we build the framework using the cobalt chromium and then acrylic resin to form the natural-looking teeth and gums.

Often the metal used as the framework can be very helpful in partial dentures as it fits solidly around existing healthy teeth, preventing damage to those teeth and to the tongue and gums.

Different Types Of Dentures Offered At Kent Smile Studio

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are replacement teeth usually made from acrylic, that are attached to a faux-gum base and in some instances metal, which holds the denture in place. Metal framework is commonly used with partial dentures if missing teeth are located in different parts of the mouth. You can use a partial denture for one missing tooth or several. The alternative is a fixed bridge which is a replacement tooth that sits where the missing tooth would be, and is held in place by the natural teeth either side.

Complete Dentures

Complete dentures are a set of dentures created to replace an entire arch of teeth. With the top arch, a complete plate goes across the roof of the mouth and the suction between the roof of the mouth and the denture helps to keep it in place. Because of the plate across the top of the mouth, and the speed in which the mouth changes as we age, a person will always need new dentures periodically as the current set will eventually stop fitting. For some, they require very regular replacements in which case an alternative tooth replacement option would be a good consideration.

Implant Retained Dentures

Implant retained dentures eradicate the issue of unstable dentures that can pop out of the mouth and cause problems for the wearer. They are connected by implants, which are replacements for the tooth roots. The titanium tooth roots hold an abutment at the top which is how we connect the dentures to the implant. The implant keeps the dentures secure and safe so you don’t get that worry about denture slippage as you do with traditional dentures. There is also no need for a roof plate so dental implants are more comfortable and reduce that ‘full-mouth’ feel you can get from dentures. An added benefit is that you will also taste your food better as the roof of the mouth is not obstructed.

Immediate Dentures

Immediate dentures are available for patients who have had tooth removal on the same day. Often when teeth are extracted, you have to wait for the mouth to heal before dentures are provided. With immediate dentures you do not have to spend any time without teeth; instead you visit us a few times so that dentures can be created for you, so when the day of extraction comes, you can leave with a new set of teeth.

Your Don’t Have To Suffer Through An Incomplete Smile

If you have found yourself struggling with an incomplete smile that affects the way you eat, speak and feel about your smile aesthetic, it is time to make a change. With affordable smile restoration options like dentures available to you at your local Kent Smile Studio dentist, you can have a smile that feels and looks complete again. Dentures are much more comfortable and well-made than they used to be, and they are much more aesthetically pleasing than they used to be too. So you no longer have to suffer with low confidence and a smile that doesn’t function as well as it could!

It All Starts With A Consultation

If you are interested in high-quality dentures, the first step is a consultation. Our primary concern is to ensure your remaining teeth, gums and soft tissues are healthy and a detailed examination and consultation will allow us the check that. Once we know that your smile is as healthy as possible, we can talk you through the relevant options when it comes to dentures. If any other dental replacement options are available to you, for example implants, we can talk you through those options too. We want you to have full transparency with easy to understand timescales, budgets and information so you are fully informed about the processes involved. We want you to have complete control over your dental health and you will always have the final say over any oral health treatments we offer.

If you would like to talk to us about tooth replacement, please get in touch. You can reach our friendly teams on 01634 683 123 (Chatham) or 01622 754 662 (Maidstone) to book a consultation at a time to suit you. We’re here to help you restore your smile for improved functionality and smile-confidence too!
