Full Mouth Teeth Replacements Using Dental Implants
At Kent Smile Studio, we are proud to offer our patients a large selection of modern dental treatments which can completely restore the mouth when there has been tooth loss in some or all areas.
At our local clinics we have three main treatment types available for full mouth teeth replacements:
All on 4, All on 6
Both of these treatments are used to attach a fixed bridge and we may need to use 4 or 6 implants depending on the individual. In either, case two of the implants are specially designed and placed at an angle at the back of the mouth, providing additional stability and usually avoiding the need for bone grafting or sinus lifts.
By using this method, we can usually attach the bridge on the same day of the implant placement which means patients can gain a new smile in just one day.
Implant Stabilised Dentures
It is common for dentures to be used in order to replace a full arch of teeth. This is a method of tooth replacement that has been successful over the years and with new advances in dentistry, modern dentures are the most aesthetically pleasing they have ever been.
Although dentures have lots of benefits, they can also have negatives as well. They can become loose as the jawbone naturally degrades with time, which changes the shape of the mouth. These problems can be avoided, or resolved with dental implants which perform two important jobs in the mouth once placed. They firstly help prevent further deterioration of the jawbone, preventing any further change in face shape. Secondly they enable the dentures to be held firmly in place.
This provides lots of benefits including enabling the patient to eat a wider variety of food without being worried about their dentures coming out. It also provides easy denture cleaning as they can be simply unclipped and taken out of the mouth when necessary.
Generally, when a full arch of teeth has been lost the first treatment recommended would have been dentures. However, for patients who may find dentures uncomfortable or inconvenient, our alternative option using the All on 4 or All on 6 systems can be a much better option.
Individual dental implants linked with bridges
Generally, most missing teeth can be replaced using individual dental implants which are linked with dental implant bridges. This is the most realistic teeth replacement option but it does involve a long treatment process. It can also be very costly and may also involve augmentation treatments like bone grafts. If this is a treatment you would like to consider, we will be more than happy to provide you with all the information you need, and provide you information on potential alternatives so that you are able to make a fully informed decision.
Looking after replacement teeth following All on 4 or All on 6 is quite simple. All on 4 or All on 6 implants and the corresponding bridges are permanent, so you simply need to brush and floss them like you would your natural teeth. One of our experience implant dentists will ensure you have all the information you need about aftercare, ensuring you are well equipped to enjoy them for many years to come. We will also check your implants and oral health during your regular check-ups with us.
